On July 28, 2021, Playboy Enterprises International, Inc. ("Playboy") filed a case in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York against numerous defendants in an action to protect and enforce Playboy's registered trademarks against counterfeiters online in China and in multiple U.S. states. The defendants have registered fraudulent entities with 5 different states and created at least two infringing websites, including playboychinabrand.com and have sought to confuse consumers and potential licensees into believing that they are affiliated with Playboy when they are not. On August 9, 2021, the Court granted a temporary restraining order and expedited discovery. On August 13, 2021 the Court converted the temporary restraining order into a preliminary injunction. All defendants named in the action have failed to respond and will be subject to default. This matter is ongoing, and Playboy will continue to enforce its rights against the defendants and any affiliated entities and individuals. A link to the case can be found here.

On June 15, 2021, Playboy filed a Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy Proceeding (UDRP) against Junhan Huang, the Registrant of the domain name playboychinabrand.com. On September 29, 2021, the World Intellectual Property Organization Arbitration and Mediation Center issued a favorable decision in the UDRP proceeding, ordering the domain name playboychinabrand.com to be transferred to Playboy Enterprises International, Inc.
